Nikon D800E finally allows shooting much as I could with film. I envisioned a camera with these capabilities 20 years ago when implementing digital for the first time on a military base, using Kodak/Nikon 1MP cameras costing $12K a pop. Long wait is over. All the DSLRs I've had until now have felt like a compromise. Resolution is incredible, using old AI lenses I've owned since the 70s. Dynamic range allows great flexibility in translating vision to image. Feature set is robust and not missing anything important. Build quality is top rate. Low light and speed are much better than some critics would suggest. Very pleased.
